Home Treatment for Injuries

Injuries are an unavoidable aspect of football despite the various preventive measures and protections available.

In the realm of the beautiful game, players require strength, agility, and speed to pass and shoot the ball into the opponent's net.

With numerous collisions occurring during matches, correct score prediction is considered a sport with a high injury rate.

1. Common Sports Injuries

To prevent and promptly address injuries, football players should be aware of the following common injuries:

Sprained ankles: damage to the ligaments around the joint due to excessive force or movement. Symptoms include swelling, bruising, or tenderness in areas like the ankle, shin, or knee. Treatment options range from home remedies to medical consultations depending on the severity of the sprain.

Dislocated joints: often occur due to falls, strong impacts, or sudden changes in direction while moving on the field. Signs include significant swelling, intense pain, and difficulty moving the affected joint.

Knee ligament sprains: one of the most common injuries among football players, especially during rapid movements, frequent twisting of the knee, or sudden changes in direction. Symptoms include severe pain, swelling, and the risk of loose or damaged knee ligaments and surrounding cartilage.

Fractures or bone cracks: small cracks in the bones caused by excessive strain from intense training, leading to pain and discomfort. Common locations for fractures include the shin and foot bones due to weakened bones from training and competition.

Lower back spinal pain: caused by excessive twisting or bending movements, resulting in misalignment of the vertebrae, increased pressure on the discs, and compression of nerve roots. If left untreated, it can lead to chronic back pain, numbness, and tingling sensations down the buttocks and legs.

Hamstring muscle injuries: caused by rapid contraction or excessive stretching of the hamstring muscle groups, often resulting in sudden and intense pain in the back of the thigh. Prolonged conditions can lead to muscle tears or ruptures, causing discomfort and reduced mobility.

Plantar fasciitis: causing dull, aching pain and numbness in the lower part of the heel where the plantar fascia attaches to the heel bone. Excessive body pressure on the foot arches can lead to injuries in this area, resulting in chronic pain and significant impacts on daily activities.

Achilles tendonitis: excessive strain on the Achilles tendon due to excessive force and gravity, causing injuries to the heel area. Without proper treatment, this condition can lead to severe complications such as mobility limitations, Achilles tendon deformities, and the most dangerous scenario of a torn or ruptured Achilles tendon.

2. Home Treatment for Injuries

For acute injuries, proper first aid measures should be applied. You can use the RICE method for sprains and dislocations:

Rest: Limit movement and rest to reduce pain and facilitate recovery from injuries.

Ice: Apply a cold pack to the injured area within 24 hours of the injury to reduce swelling and pain. Each icing session should last 20-30 minutes with intervals of 3-4 hours. Repeat continuously for 2-3 days after the injury.

Compression: immobilize the joint or displaced ligament to limit movement. Avoid excessive compression and loosen the bandage to improve blood circulation.

Elevation: Raise the injured area above the heart level by placing a pillow under it, reducing swelling and inflammation and promoting faster recovery.

Note that for severe sprains where the joint is dislocated or immobile, or if there are signs of fever or worsening symptoms after 48 hours, seek medical attention immediately for examination and treatment.

3. Non-Drug Treatment or Surgery at ACC Clinic

In Vietnam, the ACC Clinic is a leading specialist unit in the field of sports injury treatment without the use of pain relievers or surgery. Depending on the patient's injury status, ACC doctors combine Chiropractic therapy with physical therapy using modern treatment aids such as:

Chiropractic spine therapy: realigns the joints to correct imbalances during movement, thereby treating pain at the root and preventing recurrence.

High-intensity fourth-generation laser therapy: stimulates blood circulation, regenerates and accelerates the healing process of tissues, cartilage, muscles, joints, and ligaments.

DTS spinal decompression machine: gently stretches the spine, reducing pressure on the nerve roots, and alleviating pain without medication or surgery.

Shockwave therapy: targets painful points and damaged musculoskeletal tissues in areas like the Achilles tendon, knee joints, promoting tissue and cell recovery, reducing pain, and significantly shortening the treatment time.

Pneumex functional recovery program: consists of 7 steps in the treatment protocol, featuring 4 types of decompression machines with flexible design supporting spinal decompression and balance improvement after injury.

PneuWeight Treadmill analysis and adjustment device improves body mechanical balance, enhances plantar fasciitis, and knee pain.

Foot orthotics help balance the body's mechanical systems, improve plantar fasciitis, and knee joint pain.
